Professional Piano Tuning in the Ozarks

Hi! I'm Bryan Davis

Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. From watching my grandfather play in his bluegrass band to hearing my mother sing at church, music has always surrounded me. And one instrument that has always drawn me in is the piano. I love sitting down and playing whatever comes to mind, the way the sound fills a room, soothes the soul, and transports you somewhere else entirely.

Fourteen years ago, my cousin, who owns a piano tuning business in Utah, asked if I wanted to learn how to tune pianos and work alongside him. I was immediately fascinated by the instrument’s inner workings. There’s an immense satisfaction in bringing a piano back to life with just a little bit of care.

Today, that same love for music and craftsmanship is what I bring into every home I visit. My goal is simple: to help your piano sound its best so you can enjoy playing it again, whether you’re practicing for a recital, playing hymns on Sunday, or just relaxing at the end of a long day.

Tuning Services

Whether your piano is played every day or only on special occasions, regular tuning helps it sound its best and protects your investment. I provide careful, professional piano tuning for upright and grand pianos throughout the Ozarks.

Not sure which service you need? Schedule a tuning and I’ll evaluate your piano when I arrive to determine whether a standard tuning or a pitch raise is the best fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I have my piano tuned?

There are over 200 steel strings inside a piano, creating 15–20 tons of tension. Over time, that tension slowly changes and the strings begin to drift out of tune. The longer a piano goes without tuning, the harder it becomes for it to stay stable.

For most homes, I recommend tuning every 6–12 months to keep the instrument sounding its best and to protect its long term stability.

I’m based in Ozark and serve communities throughout the Springfield–Branson corridor, including:

Springfield, Ozark, Nixa, Republic, Battlefield, Rogersville, Sparta, Highlandville, Spokane, Saddlebrooke, and Ava.

Yes. Travel is included within roughly 25 miles of Ozark. Appointments beyond that include a modest travel fee:

  • 26–40 miles: $20

  • 41–60 miles: $40

  • Beyond 60 miles: custom quote

You’ll always see the total cost before confirming your appointment.

Ava is my hometown. As a way of giving back to the community I grew up in, I include Ava in my regular service area and waive travel fees there.

Pianos don’t respond well to sudden, large tuning changes. Over time, most pianos gradually go flat. If a piano hasn’t been tuned in two or more years, it may be far enough off pitch that a standard tuning won’t hold properly.

A pitch raise is a multi-pass process where the strings are first brought slightly above target pitch to rebalance the tension across the instrument. A second fine tuning pass then brings everything precisely into tune so the piano sounds stable and musical.

To help your appointment go smoothly:

  • Please be home and available at the scheduled time.

  • Remove items from the top of the piano.

  • Provide a reasonably quiet environment during tuning.

I tune by ear, so a quiet space helps ensure the most accurate results.

If you’re running late or need to reschedule, please call or text as soon as possible.
